New England Basketball Hall of Fame Induction Weekend Activities
The New England Basketball Hall of Fame held a series of activities over the weekend of August 7 and 8, 2015 in Worcester, MA. Nearly 1,800 people attended the dinner and induction ceremony at the DCU Center on August 8. On the previous day, the NEBHOF hosted the first annual Boston versus Worcester High School Scholar-Athlete Games at the iconic St. Mary's High Gymnasium, home court of the 1964 New England Champions. Check out the highlight reel of the Scholar-Athlete game, the wonderful senior women's game, and a halftime ceremony featuring Dee Rowe.
Activities also included 45-minute presentations by Hall of Famers Dave Cowens and David Thompson, former Boston College star Jim Sweeney, who addressed for the first time in a public forum the 1979 scandal at Boston College. Red Sox legend Bill Lee also presented, as part of his role in helping announce the expansion of the New England Basketball Hall of Fame to other sports, including baseball.
The four presentations will be posted to YouTube beginning in January and announced on my Facebook page and the New England Basketball Hall of Fame website.
Gold Medal Ceremonies
On November 17, 2015, Boston Mayor Marty Walsh hosted the first of what will be eight New England Basketball Hall of Fame Gold Medal Ceremonies. The ceremonies are being held to present NEBHOF gold medals to the 2015 honorees. Watch the highlights of the Mayor's reception.

"Stay Relevant" CD off to a GREAT START! Here is more information.
Stay Relevant, a CD by Dan
Doyle
(Three years in the
making!)
Marie O'Regan Doyle always wanted her
middle child to sing. In autumn 2012, Dan Doyle acted on the long ago
wish of his late mother. Facing overwhelming pressure from a State of Rhode
Island investigation of his work at his beloved Institute for International
Sport, which he founded in 1986, (an investigation now correctly seen by
innumerable people as a horrific witch hunt), Doyle made an appointment at Tape
Works in Hartford, where he recorded several Johnny Cash and Frank Sinatra
songs.
Encouraging feedback from the music
community resulted in Doyle deciding to take the next step. That step, and the
many others that followed, has resulted in Doyle's CD, Stay Relevant,
being released worldwide today on CD Baby, iTunes, other electronic means, and
in the form of a special autographed version on hard disc.
The CD contains 11 original songs
that Doyle wrote, composed and recorded. DanDoyleMusic.com provides
details of the songs, including snippets of each song, as well as the role that
Dan's rage played in moving the project to fruition. Stay Relevant is
one of several new assets Doyle has created to keep the Institute for
International Sport operational until his case is adjudicated.
Great Reception
from the Entertainment Industry
Acclaimed musician, platinum engineer
and producer Gordon Bahary, who has his “right touch” on over 35
million albums sold, including those of Stevie Wonder, states:
“Dan Doyle’s album is a work of a
visionary and true artist. A beautiful collection of songs. Dan bares his
soul for all of us. His strong messages are badly needed today. A
blessed piece of work -- brilliant.”
Acclaimed actor Marc Carver,
who recently played the role of Dick Lehr in the movie Black Mass, states:
“After listening to a pre-cut of the
CD, I wanted to give my girlfriend an idea of what Dan’s amazing songs were
like. I played one of the songs, ‘A Parent’s Message’ for her. The original
song is about selflessness and steadfast love. When the song ended, we sat
smiling silently with tears on our cheeks. Dan’s voice is a one-of-a-kind
narrative-style in theater and music.”
Acclaimed Entertainer Rob
Gottfried, “Rob the Drummer” states:
"An incredible triumph at so
many levels. Dan is a Titan with warmth and the CD is a statement about who he
really is. INSPIRING!"
Acclaimed recording artist Dianne
Mower states:
“The powerful messages in each song
remind us of our purpose in life, and that all of us, regardless of age, still
have lots of work to do. Anyone seeking ideas to enhance their lives, and the
lives of others, can start with this CD.”
A Great Christmas
Gift!
Please help support Dan and his work
by purchasing the CD as a perfect holiday gift for family, friends, or
yourself!

High Praise from the
Music Industry
The Stay Relevant CD has drawn high praise
from a wide span of individuals in the music industry. Acclaimed musician, platinum engineer and

Relevant CD "Brilliant. " Mr.
Bahary’s entire statement can be viewed on the website under Testimonials.
Issues Addressed
The Stay Relevant website (www.dandoylemusic.com) addresses a number
of issues, including the rage which spurred Mr. Doyle to create the entire CD,
rage based on the State of Rhode Island indicting Mr. Doyle over his running of
the Institute for International Sport. A
CD feature is the song, The Gran’ Ole
Jury, which reflects Mr. Doyle’s
outrage with the Grand Jury system. The
song will lead to Mr. Doyle's production of a documentary on the Grand Jury
system.
Institute for
International Sport Assets
The website
addresses a remarkable number of new assets that Mr. Doyle has created to keep
his beloved Institute for International Sport afloat until he is exonerated for
what he defiantly terms bogus charges filed by the State of Rhode Island. The assets include the Shoeless Joe Play and Mr. Doyle’s creation of the African
Scholar-Athlete Games. Proceeds from the
Stay Relevant CD will benefit Institute projects.

A Press Release from publicist George Dassinger
9/25/15
HOW DOESN'T THE GRAND JURY WORK? ASK DAN DOYLE
DOYLE'S "THE GRAN' OLE JURY" PROTEST SONG SINGS LOUD AND CLEAR
If you want to learn about the grand
jury, Google findlaw.com where it
states the sole purpose of the grand jury is not to find guilt or punishment of
a party. Instead, a prosecutor will “work” with a grand jury to decide whether
to bring criminal charges or an indictment against a potential defendant. It is
this process that spawned the phrase “a
prosecutor can get a Grand Jury to indict a ham sandwich”. Ironically,
while all states have provisions in their laws that allow for grand juries,
roughly half of the states don’t use them.
Rhode Island is a state which
does use the grand jury and in February 2012, Gordon Fox, Speaker of the Rhode Island House of Representatives,
now in prison for bribery, called for an investigation of Dan Doyle. For more than three-and-half-years,
Dan Doyle has vehemently declared his innocence. After reading the grand jury
testimony, Doyle’s outrage caused him to write a protest song, “The Gran’ Ole
Jury”.
Now for almost four years since Fox’s announcement, Dan Doyle has
worked full-time at the Institute for International Sport. During these
albatross years, Dan has received no salary and has managed to pay all the Institute’s
monthly bills. Over this period of time, he has developed projects such as the
African Scholar-Athlete Games and has written a play based on Shoeless Joe Jackson – both projects
are new and valuable Institute assets. He could have continued to wallow in
outrage. Instead of resentment, Doyle moved forward in a positive direction.
“The Gran’ Ole Jury” protest
song (see this link for the lyrics) is a part of an album Dan
Doyle has worked on for over two years, an album called “brilliant” by renowned
platinum producer Gordon Bahary. The
full album, entitled “Stay Relevant”, will be released on iTunes in October,
followed by a CD to be distributed via Sony RED. All total there are
11 original songs, written, composed and recorded by Doyle, as well as 3
additional songs that are part of the Shoeless Joe play. Doyle also incorporated
an added element on the CD - an eight-minute stage reading of the Shoeless Joe
play.
A forthcoming “Support Dan Doyle
site” will include detailed information of the wide-spread legal redress that
will follow in the coming years – civil suits, civil rights suits, false light
suits, and malicious prosecution. Criminal complaints will also be filed
against those who Doyle alleges violated the law in the Grand Jury. Doyle is
also well into pre-production of a documentary on the Grand Jury system. The
documentary, tentatively titled “No
Judge, Just A Rope”, will expose a system that, in Doyle’s view, tramples
on civil rights; a system that allows public servants who work for the people
to operate under the misguided notion that they are somehow inviolable. Doyle
feels the documentary will shock an American public since so few citizens have
any real knowledge of a deeply flawed process that fosters injustice rather
than advancing fairness.
Dan Doyle has found a personalized
way to state his case and take a stand. His stance is best echoed by the
immortal words of baseball pitching great Satchel
Paige, “Never let your head hang
down. Never give up and sit down and grieve. Find another way.” Dan Doyle
found another way and soon his words in song and theater (and eventually in a
documentary) will rebalance the scales of justice. The vindication and innocence of Dan Doyle is
only a matter of time.
On August 8th, in Worcester,
MA DCU Center, Doyle produced a live
event – the New England Basketball Hall of Fame. He founded the awards event in 2002 and this year over 1700
people attended. Included in the awards presentation was a 50-minute “Show”
that Doyle keenly produced in tandem. Renowned stage actor, Marc Carver, served as host. Seven
student ballet student dancers interpreted 11 songs – each song was accompanied
by a theme-based pictorial – featuring photos of honorees conveyed to the
audience audio-visually on three large screens.
“What Dan produced that night was, in my opinion, a new art form. Being
a theater actor, I’ve never seen anything like it. The music was beautiful,
heartfelt, poignant and earnest. The student dancers were elegant and they
seemed to perform with a love and joy. The tri-screened projected photos of the
honorees were deeply personal to the members of the audience – an audience that
was riveted from beginning to end. A few days after the event, I wanted to give
my girlfriend an idea of what Dan’s amazing songs were like. I played one of
the songs, ‘A Parent’s Message’ for her. The original song is about
selflessness and steadfast love. When the song ended, we sat smiling silently
with tears on our cheeks. Dan’s voice is a one-of-a-kind narrative-style in
theater and music,” Marc Carver stated.
Dan Doyle recently agreed to his first public interview since February 2012. Doyle discussed issues such as
the future of the Institute, the documentary he is producing on the Grand Jury
system and why he wrote, composed and recorded “Stay Relevant”. Jim
Thompson, the founder of the Positive Coaching Alliance, commented on the Shoeless Joe play.

Lyrics Release: Gran' Ole Jury
Thank you for your interest in my forthcoming album. Here are the lyrics to the Gran' Ole Jury.
Protest Song Lyrics: For Release on September 24, 2015
The Gran’ Ole Jury
By
Dan Doyle
It’s not
very common
That one has
the chance
To stand
tall
And save a
friend’s life
But that’s
just what I did
When a man
whom I knew
Was stabbed
in the back
With a knife
I couldn’t
believe
How others
cowered
I watched
‘em runnin’
Jes like
rats
Scared off
as they were
Of doin’
what’s right
By bullies
Wearin’
stained white hats
So it was
then that I knew
This was a
man I’d help save
For once in
my life I was brave
(Music)
There sure
have been times
When I’ve
let myself down
‘Stead of
goin’ for six
I’d jes punt
But in this
situation
It was clear
to me
What I was
seein’
Was a real
witch hunt
One thing
that I learned
From this
turn of events
Sure helped me
to clearly
See the
light
Jes by
flashing their
Shiny silver
badges
Don’t mean
that
They’re
always in the right
So I became
committed
To a man I’d
help save
For once in
my life
I was brave
(Music)
When
appearin’
Before the
Gran’ Ole Jury
I thought of
a line
from Jimmy J
(Ed Note: Jimmy J is James Joyce)
Cuz the
white hat
Was smilin’
like a Saxon
Dead certain
he’d
Surely get
his way
I had no
idea
This was a
set up
Only one
side gettin’
To present
A farce of
justice
that few
understand
And one that
should cause
Strong
dissent
So I became
committed
To a man I’d
help save
For once in
my life
I was brave
(Music)
As soon as
The
questionin’ started
And not at
all
To my
surprise
I saw a
transformation
In that
white hat
Now blinded
By the blood
in his eyes
Why it took
only minutes
For me to
surmise
This pep
rally
Was an
unfair exercise
For by
sittin’ in on this
Gran’ Ole
Jury
I was
helpin’ the white hat
Spin his
lies
Leavin’ that
sleight of hand investigation
I thought of
the man I worked to save
Feelin’
mighty good simply knowin’
For once in
my life
I was brave
(Music)
(Mr. Doyle
speaks these next two stanzes)
On this
matter
And highly
apropos
Is what a
famous man scrawled
So very long
ago
When you see
somethin’ wrong
It’s your
time to be strong
You must not
maintain
Your
neutrality
(A group
yell)
So thank
you, Dante Alighieri!
(Ed Note:
Neutrality concept taken from Divine Comedy)
Now lookin’
back
I think
quite often
Of that man
I stepped up
to save
And when I
think of him
I’m proud –
I surely am proud
For once in
my life
I was brave
TAG
Yes, when I
think of him
I’m proud –
I surely am proud
For once in
my life
I was brave

Thirty
months ago, I began a process of writing, composing and recording a series of
songs. Over the course of this project, I have worked with a number of
remarkable people, all of whom will be properly thanked upon release of the CD.
The following press release was issued yesterday by publicist, George
Dassinger.

DAN DOYLE’S PROTEST SONG “THE GRAN’ OLE JURY”
SONG HITS HOME
STAY RELEVANT ALBUM TO BE
RELEASED SEPTEMBER 15, 2015
Oliver Wendell Holmes is quoted as saying, “When you write in prose you say what you
mean. When you write in rhyme you say what you must.”
Holmes’ quote is applicable and
aptly descript when it comes to the lyrics of a song. Former basketball coach,
Dan Doyle felt compelled to let his lyrics “say
what he must” and turn a perceived “negative
into a positive.” Doyle’s song, one
from his forthcoming Stay Relevant album
(release date September 15, 2015) is entitled. “The Gran’ Ole Jury” The
idea for the song started when 66 year-old Dan Doyle read through the grand
jury testimony, which led to his indictments on a series of charges related to
the his involvement with 27 year-old Rhode Island-based Institute for
International Sport.
When faced with adversity, often
times, it brings out the best in one’s character. This holds particularly true
when it comes to former basketball coach, Dan Doyle. Now, three-and-a-half
years later, this indictment ordeal has plagued Mr. Doyle, his family and his
beloved Institute of International Sport. Mr. Doyle continues to stay resolute
in professing his innocence and finding ways to set the record straight. “The
Gran’ Ole Jury” is not Mr. Doyle’s only form of protest. He is in
pre-production of a hit-home-styled documentary on the grand jury system.
As Mr. Doyle read through the
Grand Jury testimonies, he found, what he believes to be an extraordinary level
of so-called “witness fabrications”
and documented intimidation tactics deployed by the prosecution. At first, he
was outraged but as Dan Doyle’s civility took hold, he decided to write, compose
and record a protest song, “The Gran’ Ole Jury” as his response.
“The Gran’ Ole Jury” could well
be the first American song in history where the accused (under indictment)
decided to attempt to plead his stance in lyrical form. Is it a protest song?
Yes, it is that and more. For example, one stanza states, “When appearin’ before the Gran Ole Jury, I thought of a line from
Jimmy J (James Joyce). Cuz the white hat was smilin’ like a Saxon – dead
certain that he’d surely get his way. I had no idea – this was a set up – only
one side gettin’ to present – a farce of justice that few understand. And one
that should cause strong dissent.”
This protest song is featured on
a full-length CD, set to be released on September 15, 2015. The CD, entitled Stay Relevant features eleven original
songs from Mr. Doyle. Other songs: “Single
Moms”, “Thank You, Mr. Auden” and
“Boomer Rap.” Also featured is a “stage reading” from a play Mr. Doyle
has written on the life and questionable condemnation of baseball legend/outcast,
“Shoeless
Joe” Jackson.
Acclaimed musician, platinum engineer and producer, Gordon Bahary, whose credits includes
mixing and mastering for Barbra Streisand and Stevie Wonder, has his “right touch” on over 35 million albums
sold. His career has spanned four music-filled decades and continues with his
mixing and mastering of Dan Doyle’s forthcoming Stay Relevant album.
“Dan Doyle’s album is a work of a visionary and true artist. In this
beautiful collection of songs and vibrant performances, Dan hits home. When you
hear the tracks you may well agree with me. I believe Dan is courageous,
authentic and bears his soul for us all. Dan’s strong messages are badly needed
today - delivered in a gentle, classy manner that matches the charm of his
generation. While the rhythms, melodies
and words move along, the listener is moved by a compelling underlying
consciousness that is performed in his deeply
spiritual, subtle and humble way. A blessed piece of work – brilliant,”
Bahary stated.
